No Bullfighting in Barcelona

posted by admin in 1

It is finally a fact despite the regret of the Barcelona people. Bullfighting has been a traditional sport for ages in Spain and particularly in Catalonia, however, this is coming to an end. Corrida shows would be banned from first January 2012 in Barcelona and the last show took place on 25th September 2011 when three of the best matadors in Spain killed six half-tonne bulls in front of a crowded arena.

The bullfighting shows are typical traditional event for Catalonia and its center is Barcelona - the city attracts many visitors who are just visiting the country to attend a bullfight. The sport shows are among the most anticipated events in the city and tickets for corrida performances are sold out just in days after their release. Despite importing the traditional bullfighting shows to Latin America, Spain remains the country that is mostly associated with it and the sport itself is a major event in the cultural life of the country.

However, the local parliament in Barcelona voted against the sport when considering whether a ban should be imposed. No need of special HR software is needed by the decision makers to estimate that the people involved in the corrida shows are decreasing so their decision would not impose hardship on people employed in this particular sector. Furthermore, most of the matadors (bullfighters) are employed in another place so their participation is more like a second income occupation.

The ban comes as a result of ’modernization'of the Spanish culture, as called by people unhappy with the decision. Animal cruelty associated with terror over animals is among the main reasons for forbidding the shows to continue. Additionally, killing an animal in front of such an audience might provoke a violent reaction among people, it induces the idea that the manifestation of strength is contained within the act of killing.

Unhappy with the decision, many Spanish people went on the streets silently expressing their dissatisfaction with the decision after the last show of bullfighting. Nevertheless, the ban remains official and would be a step towards building a more morally responsible society.

Oil and Natural Gas Drilling

posted by admin in 1

so we still have to go drilling to get to the natural gas deposits, doesn’t anyone see a problem with that? With the discovery of natural gas and its benefits as an efficient fuel, many companies previously involved in drilling oil have now embarked on drilling for natural gas side-by-side. Now, all of these companies have started drilling for oil and natural gas to curb the ever-increasing demand for energy throughout the world. Often natural gas is dubbed as the by product of drilling oil and is therefore easier to extract.

The fact that natural gas is given out as a by-product was mostly ignored until it benefits was discovered some years back. Once it was found that the natural gas can be used for industrial purposes, it was extracted along with oil using the same drilling mechanisms.

In some oil fields in Europe during the discovery of natural gas and oil, drilling, believe it or not, was done by hand an d this turned out to be a tedious task. Nowadays more innovative techniques such as horizontal drilling and nitrogen drilling are being used to extract both oil and gas at the same time. The use of computers and sensors has help in the location of some of the new oil and natural gas deposits. The technology and software is not anything like what you would get back from a London mac repair shop as it is highly sophisticated and very well designed to do what it does.

Natural gas primarily consists of methane which is a type of hydrocarbon. This also means that natural gas gives off little particulates as a fuel as opposed to fossil fuels. Recently, the use of natural gas as a fuel of vehicles and even for cooking has also gained momentum. This increased demand for natural gas makes its drilling even more important. Within some industries and commercial areas it is still believed that natural gas will take a much longer time to catch on.

China Mobile Overtaking Apple

posted by admin in 1

Chinese industry is expanding to almost every field - from silver jewellery production to technology production. And in this course of development, China Mobile, state owned mobile operator, has grown to an extent far beyond the income merits of the world’s most expensive company - Apple. Even though the company has been criticized for using unfair contracts and subordinating them to the needs of the state to benefit from offering significant diversity of services, the mobile operator keeps enjoying the most of attention from users in the country.

Partially, the success of the company is coming from the quality of the mobile internet they are offering. As shown in the chart above, a steady increase in the Mobile Broadband users is observed and this is contributing for generating more income for the state owned company. China Mobile managed to develop a strong grid of coverage installments that allow quick transfer of data and access to internet from most of the locations in the country that were previously not covered by standard 3G network.

The Chinese are also enjoying the company since it is offering good terms for their contracts and fair prices (however, dissatisfied customers do not really have a choice to complain about their problems which remains the strongest problem for unhappy users). The production of smartphones on a local level allows Chinese to afford cheaper technology and to spend relatively more about mobile services thus contributing strongly to the success of the operator.

Another significant advantage of the company is that while being state owned it is in the control of the competition commissions working within the country. Thus major competitors of the company do not have a real chance to beat its performance on a local level since the operator is, logically, privileged as being owned by the regime currently leading the country.

So the truth is - China Mobile is not generating more revenue that the worlds most expensive company - Apple. And should the Chinese continue their growth, production of Chinese smartphones might be boosted by demand both national and international.

UN Security Council And Palestine

posted by admin in 1

For decades Israel and Palestine have been engaged in constant rivalry and blood shed because of territorial disputes. Despite having the support of the West, Israel is failing to maintain a successful and productive dialogue with Palestinian leaders because of pressure constantly escalating between the two opposing parties. Being ignored by most Arab countries, Israel would need to undertake a path of diplomacy that would contribute to the peace process in the Middle East.

The mounting pressure and the revolutionary processes in the Middle East sharpened the situation between Palestine and Israel. The two countries suffered numerous casualties as a result of military actions and both sides have agreed that resolving the issue using firepower might be the most unreasonable way of achieving regional goals.

This is the reason why the UN security Council is to start debates on whether there would be good enough environment for the establishment of a Palestinian independent country apart from Israel. The Council would consider probable scenarios of attracting opinions about the issue and would rethink its positions entirely should there be any good and found reason for conducting a different political behaviour in order for a new country to be established. According to certain researchers, some Israelis would definitely agree to allow the existence of Palestine should there be a guarantee for a persistent peace.

The Council would also consider any problems that Israel might face as a result of the creation of a new country within its borders. As it happens with Kosovo, it would be necessary for the Council to obtain evidence that such an act would not contradict the desires of the people concerned and the people about to remain in the territories of the new state.

The meeting and the debates in the Council should determine a sound position about the developments in the Middle East. And while the people in the West remain more interested in good horse insurance deals in their countries, war and terror still tear apart states and ethnic groups like Israel and the Palestinians.

UK’s Crowded Prisons

UK’s Crowded Prisons

After the rioting and looting that damaged England both economically and socially, the outcomes seem to be piling. The court system in the country is sentencing people more quickly that suspected. Almost 100 people receive their sentences every day - until the 19th of August 600 people have been sentenced and sent to jail. However, a concern is growing related to both justice delivering and sentencing - the first related to objectivity and the second related to jail space.

Deficit Plan in Doubt Due to Borrowing Woes

Deficit Plan in Doubt Due to Borrowing Woes

The UK economy received a hitch recently when government officials had to reanalyze their deficit reduction plans, after borrowing figures recorded the highest levels for the month of April.

The Office for National Statistics (ONS) announced a tremendous increase of public borrowing, and this excluding bank bailouts or other types of financial interventions, was estimated at £10bn. They also said that tax receipts decreased year on year, which had been enhanced by the tax on bankers'bonuses, stated at almost £3.5bn a year earlier. The high borrowing in the public sector raised the government’s debt to a record of £910.1bn, or 60.1% of GDP.

Because the economy will struggle to grow, the government officials will find hard to meet the budget reduction plans this year. Tax receipts have also fallen to £42.9bn, because of the bank bonuses from the previous year.

The government may soon have to consider using HR software and additional analysis to decide whether to cut the civil service workforce. His will be hard pill to swallow for many if t does happen.

The UK economist Samuel Tombs from Capital Economics said that the UK April public finance figures started the new fiscal year on a bad footing. He also added that borrowing for the 2011-2012 fiscal year, will likely be 15% below last year’s actual figures, and believes that with the imminent spending cuts to take place later in the year the figures will likely improve. We now cross our fingers as the government is seemingly out of viable options

Can the UK enforce the EU's Free Movement

What has been indicated as a growing concern in the pillars of the EU is the reluctance of the UK to subordinate its legal structure to the EU laws, as it has agreed to do after signing the treaties for the establishment of the organization. But why are the British so reluctant - deficiency in the political reasoning would be the probable answer. But where is it expressed?
